Report

* We have received reports that containership MSC IKARIA VI (IMO: 9261449) experienced an engine failure in a position off Busan, South Korea on 01 September 2026.

* It is reported that the vessel was taken under tow by tugs to Busan Port, where it currently remains for inspection and, potentially, repairs.

* We understand that during the towage operation, one of the assisting tugs was pulled by its towing line, causing it to capsize and subsequently sink. One crew member was rescued safely, however, it is reported that another crew member was found deceased, while the remaining six crew members are still missing.

* It is possible that General Average / Salvage and associated Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests
